Use the following steps to configure email for Apple Mail.
If you have cPanel hosting, make sure you have created an email account first.
- Open Mac Mail
- Click ‘Mail‘
- Select ‘Add Account…‘
- Ensure ‘Add Other Mail Account…‘ is selected and click ‘Continue‘
- Enter in the name you wish to be shown for the email in ‘Full Name‘
- Type in the ‘Email Address‘
- The ‘Password‘ will be the password you entered when setting the account up
- Once you have entered in the details, click ‘Create‘
- Click ‘Next‘
If not using SSL
- The ‘Mail server‘ should be mail.your-domain-name
- The ‘User Name‘ will be your full email address
- The ‘Password‘ will be the password you entered
If using SSL
- The ‘Mail server‘ should be mail.your-domain-name
- If you are on Website or Reseller hosting, enter the domain name you get when you access your-domain-name/cpanel
- The ‘User Name‘ will be your full email address
- The ‘Password‘ will be the password you entered
Click ‘Next’
If not using SSL
- The ‘SMTP server‘ should be mail.your-domain-name
- The ‘User Name‘ will be your full email address
- The ‘Password‘ will be the password you entered in previous step
If using SSL

- The ‘SMTP server‘ should be mail.your-domain-name
- If you are on Website or Reseller hosting, enter the domain name you get when you access your-domain-name/cpanel
- The ‘User Name‘ will be your full email address
- The ‘Password‘ will be the password you entered in previous stepClick ‘Create‘
- The ‘SMTP server‘ should be mail.your-domain-name
The email account will now be created, if using SSL you should double check the incoming settings
- Click ‘Mail‘
- Select ‘Preferences‘
- Click on the ‘Accounts‘ tab
- Select ‘Advanced‘
- If using POP the ‘Port‘ should be 995
If using IMAP the ‘Port‘ should be 993 - Ensure the ‘Use SSL‘ box is ticked
- Exit this screen
- Click ‘save‘ when prompted
You will now be able to send and receive email in Apple Mail, you can verify this by sending yourself an email.
